The next step

I started to put my day yesterday into a Facebook post and quickly realized it was going to get long.

The past 2 months,  i have been seeing a neurologist with the goal of finding a medication combo to help with the pain in my fave from Trigeminal Neuralgia.

I did not care for this doctor at all but the other option was a wait until July.

When I  headed up two weeks ago for a followup,  my car broke down and I missed the appointment.  I called and reported how the medication changes had been for me and asked agar they wanted me to do.  Rather than rescheduling me,  they told me to call my neurosurgeon.

I called the neurosurgeon explained my issue with this doctor and they were able to get me scheduled in with our first choice for yesterday instead of July.  (As a side note,  when a specialist reviews your case and moves you up a month on their schedule it is a little scary,  it generally means they believe you have a major issue in all of the experiences we have had with specialists)

So I saw the new neurologist yesterday,  and loved him.  Which naturally means when I checked out, they told me he is leaving in two weeks.  (He is graduating SIU medical school)

I really liked the attending?  Physician too,  though so we are good ;-)

They sat down and spent time with me going over the details.  They asked questions,  took notes and showed empathy to what I have been dealing with.

Ultimately n they don't think they can help me much.  We decided to wean off a couple of the meds that aren't working well.  And the ordered another brain mri to double check we aren't facing a known cause of this disease (like a tumor).

When the MRI comes back clear like the first one,  they will send me back to neurosurgery and we will move forward with exploring brain surgery options.

Now I am just in a waiting game.  The clinic will call me about the MRI schedule,  and I will go to Springfield for that.

I'm excited that we a are moving forward.  I am hopeful that it will help and my quality of life will be back to what it was before the pain set in on Jan 31.
