My sewing machine needs a name.

True. It needs named so I can talk about it on my blog like it is part of the family. It is becoming part of the family again. I've got my mojo back, baby. And that means the sewing machine came back out.

Baseball is ending. Soon. Very very soon. I'm so sad. Ok, not really all that sad. But sad that the kids will be sad. Naynen had a game tonight & they won...13-12. It was the longest game ever.

Back on track.... Got home and this uncontrollable urge to craft in some manner. So I tried to figure out what I could start that wasn't going to interrupt sleeping children or a TV watching husband.

A long while back, we put a mini blind on our front door, that has glass windows nearly the full length. Kids and Cats (and dogs that chase cats) broke my blind, and I was too busy to bother doing anything other than clothespin up some fabric to cover the windows.

Kids kept pulling down the fabric. (Can you believe that?! Who's kids would do such a thing?! Maybe it was the cats, because I'm pretty certain my children are angels.) Creepy neighbor across the street stares out his front door, directly at mine. I decided it was time to remedy the situation.

So I took the fabric off the clothespins, cut it out to size. And sewed up a cute little curtain panel that is now hanging on my front door. We even got smart about how to hang this curtain rod! It's on the outside of the door, so now the kids & critters can't even touch it!!

It's cute, I love it, no more creeps staring at me. No more kids tearing down my stuff. It's like complete fabulousness done by me :-)

Pictures to come later, because it was late when I started this post & I'm a busy mom!

Regaining Motivation

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench The Spirit."   - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19

I've been in a funk. I can't seem to find my motivation, or get control of my schedule and the things I need to get done.

Sometimes, a lot of times, I feel more like a single mom than the single moms I know.  My husband is a great provider for our family but in this season, that means he is gone for long periods (2-3 weeks), gone often (only "local" for one week between travel), and gone farther than he used to be.

This means I am now expected fulfill all parenting & household roles solo. With 5 kids, 4 pets, 2 gardens, and my own business to run I am exhausted, drained, sometimes begging for the end of the day.

Time to snap out of it. I started exercising this morning & hope to keep it up. I'm setting up a new daily schedule for our house this week, and hoping that it helps with time-management & that listing out the tasks keeps us from skipping out on the harder ones or forgetting something important.

So I was looking for something biblical to lean on. A verse that I could hang up in my house, in my car, anywhere I can think of for a near-constant reminder. I think this encompasses all of what I want to live out...and deserves to be typed again.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench The Spirit."   - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19

Photobomb!!

Summer break started & schedules no longer exist......except for baseball schedules, we gotta still follow those. ;-)

Playing Catch-up on my blog today....hope you enjoy!

**I was kind enough to cut out the Amish families sitting above us at the Sea Lion show....they did not at all seem impressed by us being photographed BUT having them at the zoo warded off most of the questions we normally get about our large family :)

America's favorite pasttime.

Baseball, baseball, baseball.
That is what this month is being consumed with!

Add in a birthday party, and a few cookouts, some camping and we will simply be on the run alllllllllll of the time....or so it feels.

Seriously,  though, we are playing ballgames 3-4 nights a week, plus Saturday mornings and practices in between!! CRAZINESS.

To combat the issue of chaotic afternoons/evenings with daycare closing & needing out the door for our activities, I am going to spend tomorrow making freezer meals for the crockpot. The plan is to have 3 weeks worth of them made up, and life be easy for a little while ;-)

I'll update later how that works out for us!
