It looks like....Salsa.

Because it is Salsa. Made from my garden veggies. I had no clue what I was doing, sent D-man to the store for some spices I thought were mandatory, only to have it all thrown together in perfection before he returned.

I have no recipe to share tho, because honestly I don't even know what I did to it. I should give credit to my neighbor Mrs. Imig for allowing me to visit yesterday & telling me how to easily peel the tomatoes!

Oh yeah, it's good stuff :-)

I'm better than you

It's always a fun time when I can tell my husband I am better than him at something. Some things are given & we don't discuss (cooking, cleaning, caring for the kids' medical needs....the normal mom stuff). But then there are days, when he sets himself up and I love it!

Meet Monkey.
Ok, technically I think it's supposed to be a dog, but Monster calls it Monkey. He's either confused or just likes that name, the world will never really know.
Anyhow, meet Monkey.

Umm so you're just going to have to meet monkey later. I didn't realize I failed to upload him to the interwebz & my phone is temporarily MIA.
**I found the phone & sent the Monkey pic, and I think it worked so here he is.

Anyhow, after a bright & early trip to Rural King, I made my husband go to Walmart. I hate Walmart. He hates Walmart. I think he hates me when I make him go to Walmart. But I just can't do it alone with kids. I can't. It's my kryptonite.

We get in & out & D-man thinks it will be fun to prove his masculinity by droping change in those stuffed animal grabber machines. Mr. Big Man is all "I'm gonna get one on the first try". He failed.

I drop two quarters in the machine next to him. And I capture Monkey. Mason falls in love. D-man is all "this is bs". And then proceeds to drop a couple of dollars in machines & gets nothing.

Monster loves his Monkey, but Monster got a stomach bug yesterday & Monkey was in the line of fire & I'm not sure he's saveable. At least *I* only spent 50 cents getting him :-)

Disaster Strikes!! *Update*

Quick update from last post, I'm not a good stepford wife, I suck and pretending to be someone I'm not.....more on that in a later post.

The real disaster today......

I can't find my coffee cup!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Not just a coffee mug, I have lots of those, but my coffee cup, those reusable be green things that hold 16 oz so my 10 oz chocolate glazed donut coffee plus creamer (or milk because I keep forgetting to buy creamer) and sugar all fit in there with room to spare cup. My coffee cup that is not hot for my hands to hold on too & has a lid so in the even that one of my munchkins does grab it, burns from hot coffee are limited to what drips out of that tiny hole.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. This really requires a SOS call. No joke. How does one survive a large family, housework, sewing projects, and their husband at home with no way to drink their coffee as their husband drags them to Rural King at 8am after being up with kids at least every hour ALL night long?!?!?

Thankfully D-man thinks he is dying since he hasn't been to a store to spend money in like, um, 2 weeks. So he offered to go to Dollar General. At 7:30am. For a stupid coffee cup. I don't even know if they are open at 7:30am, but hey, I'm getting a new coffee cup so whatev!

I promise to post a pic of my new to be very loved coffee cup when it gets here.

*** Dollar General is not open at 7:30am, and I think it's only fair to warn other husbands that if you come home at 7:54am empty handed & tell our wife the store wasn't open yet & she still hasn't had her morning coffee, it probably won't end fabulously well.

Stepford Wives Saga...

Ok, ok, ok. I will admit it. Being a stay at home mom of 5 children, with a husband who is normally gone all week long had put me in a rut of wearing lots of PJ's and "cooking" simple meals (making a Peanut Butter Sandwich is cooking, right?!?)

So, inspired by some people who I know to pretend their lives are perfect in front of most, I decided to step up my game. No pretending here...life is practically perfect for us :-)

I did something with my hair, albeit I simply braided it on the side, and added some makeup, and even (OMG) put on a dress. A dress!! On a weekday!! For no reason!!

Took the Princess to tumbling, and came home knowing my husband would be home for the evening.

Fresh picked jalapenos from MY garden, became amazing cheese stuffed-bacon wrapped poppers. Breaded Seared & Baked Porkchops with homemade breading, absolutely delish. Cucumber salad, from my garden as well, was a great fresh mix on the side. Oh and don't forget my own red tomatoes sliced into heavenly pieces (oh my gosh. The first few tomatoes of the season are always the best!!!)

D-man, was impressed. And we were able to enjoy the evening relaxing with with family & visiting with some across the street :-)
